First Piano Recital in Japan

Following the advice of the Japanese Piano teacher, both Akiko and Julien presented a piece at the PEN Joint Concert in Tokyo.

Hi everyone -- Enjoy! Needless to say, the week was slightly tense at home with Akiko somehow nervous — she really is subject to stage fright, while Julien seems to not care if there is anyone listening or not. He’s a natural.

Ta-la-la la-la

Julien played the parts “Prelude” and “Serenade sur l’eau” of “La Petite Suite” by Jacques Ibert.Hi There....

Akiko at the piano

Akiko selected a piece by Chopin, “Nocturne” in E minor. This is the last piece written by Chopin for his sister — it was only published after his death. It is full of rhythmic variations and quite difficult (says Akiko).

Akiko’s parents were present to encourage her and Julien.

A beautifully played piece by three future musician professionals (students of a Japanese music university) concluded the recital.
